Camping Day One!

"I wanna go camping again!" says Miss Elora as she looks over my shoulder at these pictures from what I can't believe is less than two weeks ago.  As the last couple of weeks we've been a bit preoccupied with doctor visits and, well, nesting, I'm quite behind on sharing our adventures!  Over the next few days I'll attempt to remedy that, so don't be alarmed when our girls suddenly have hair again in all of the photos!! :)

Row, Row, Row Your Boat...

Row, row, row your boat

gently down the stream,

Merrily,

Merrily

Merrily

Merrily............

Life is but a DREAM!

We got to play with our raft a lot this past weekend!  Seleia worked hard, concentrated, and became quite the little rower!  Elora loved to hop on the edge of the boat when we got 20 or so feet from shore and jump off...swimming in the rest of the way and laughing her head off!  Amarra, with the exception of a few family excursions around the lake, was content to build cakes, cliffs, castles, lakes and the like on the shore and then water it all with her elephant watering can.  Life is, indeed, but a dream!

Give Me S'more

You are getting very sleepy...you will let me roast marshmallows...you will get out the chocolate...you will open the graham crackers....on the count of three you will watch me devour delicious gooey goodness....you are getting veeerrrrry sleepy.......

God Made Dirt.....

This family looooves to camp.  After working hard to help trek all of our equipment in from the car (you have to hike a bit to our favorite spot on the lake), it did not take the girls long to, well...get dirty.  Dirt roads, mountains, castles and birthday cakes sprouted up everywhere as Daddy set up camp (this trip Mama pretty much had to lounge.  Shucks.).  Aaahhh the great outdoors!

Cougar Park

We had so much fun camping!  Every time we go to Cougar Park we find new places to explore and revisit some favorite haunts.  We get our favorite camping spot, right on the water, and the girls spend a good amount of time collecting rocks to throw in the water and watching all of the birds over the lake with binoculars.  Elora made her own fire pit (and was none too thrilled that we wouldn't light it!) and turned the kindling into blocks to build a house for all of the feathers the girls collected.  Amarra brought her journal and drew everything that happened on the trip.  Seleia decided I'm the coolest mom ever for buying the world's largest marshmallows and was a giant help with setting up, cooking, and tearing down.  That girl is like her mama, always happy if she is at the water!  Joel and I sat back, relaxed and were entertained overhearing comments like, "Go fish.  Do you have any Jackelopes?" and "I think dangerous is good for me now!".
