The Zoo!!

We love the zoo!  My favorite time to go is in the autumn (Okay, and in the spring) when it's not too hot and not too cold...just right for all of the animals to come out and say hello.  Now that the girls are a little bit older, a new dimension has been added to our trips: the zoo key!!  It's like a treasure hunt, finding which exhibits have key slots and where they are.  Elora was in charge of the key this time, and she took this responsibility very seriously. (Her key is red and it sparkles.)  SHe went and found each keyhole and the girls listened very intently to the information offered.  This was our first trip since the "Predators of the Serengeti" section opened.  We saw lions, cheetahs and African dogs...all of whom I fear do not care for Portland weather..... and saw some very exciting lizards and birds!  Now we're counting down to zoolights!!! (2 more days!!!)  We visited Samudra, the baby elephant, and saw his mommy put him in a time out! (He wanted to nurse, she did not.)  There were even 8 baby bats!  Amarra would like a pet bat.  I told her to talk to Pop-pop!
